The Chattri Memorial, South Downs, East Sussex.
The Chattri Memorial is a memorial monument to the Indian soldiers that died in the first world war, and stands on a site used to ceremoniously cremate soldiers that were treated in Brighton and died as a result their war injuries.
Due to a slight miscalculation, this took us 3 hours to walk to across muddy fields, and 45 minutes to walk back, and it bitterly cold so we didn't hang around until sunset as we had planned. I foresee another trip up there soon though - it's such a peaceful place, and the views are really lovely.
